Imperial stout for days

The keyboard's barely finished cooling off after writing about the release of our Feedback Loop Imperial Stout Whisky and just a little while since releasing our Gold Medal winning Imperial Stout 2021. Now you're already reading this one, which is about to regale you with a tale of not one, but four (4!) brand new Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts. To say that we've been antsy [read: "barely maintaining self control"] to unveil these new BA Imperial Stouts would be—shall we say—accurate. Enough about that, though, let's talk stout.

Here's the short "just give me the damn beer already" version of what we're releasing:

Rum Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2021
12.4% ABV | 440mL
8+ Mo. in ex-rum barrels

Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2021
12.8% ABV | 440mL
8+ Mo. in ex-bourbon barrels

Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2021
Maple Edition

13.1% ABV | 440mL
BBA Imp Stout infused with Maple Syrup

Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2021
Coffee Edition

12.9% ABV | 440mL
BBA Imperial Stout infused with Coffee

If you're after a little more detail, by all means continue reading.

The Rum Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, as mentioned above, spent a solid 8 months in Australian ex-rum barrels before reemerging as the magnificent monster it is, harbouring moody stewed fruits and subtle rum spice in its personality. Landing at 12.4%, don't expect to be treated gently.

Similar lengths of time in Bourbon Barrel has likewise transformed the Bourbon Barrel Aged version into its current characterisation of an inky, abyssal beast that it is. Plenty of vanilla and bourbon character are present within its depths, and clocking 12.8% should tell you that it'll come with presence on the edge of unrelenting—and in the most fantastic way possible.

As if they're old friends, coffee and imperial stout get along like a house on fire. We've also infused some of our Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with coffee, because a.) this is Melbourne, so of course it's going to be coffee and b.) why the hell not? The combination is nothing short of glorious.

Further to the theme of "breakfasty things that you can put with imperial stout", let's not forget the Maple Edition—our BBA Imp Stout infused with, like, the tastiest thing Canada's ever produced (poutine may be close, but arguably not Imperial Stout material). Really, it's all the goodies you can expect from the Bourbon Barrel Aged stout, but with all the goodies you can expect from the wonder that is Maple. We recommend: pairing it with pancakes or waffles, mixing it 1:1 with the Coffee Edition Imp Stout, or better yet, doing both of those things for the most epic brekky you'll ever have (and for that, you're welcome.)
